What Is Secrets to Dog Training?
Secrets to Dog Training is an incredibly detailed course that shows you the ins-and-outs of dog training and dealing with common dog behavior problems. Having dealt with a fair share of dog issues myself, I’ve poured through numerous resources to build my knowledge on this topic. Even with all I have learned in my hours and hours of searching, I am extremely excited about this book.
Secrets to Dog Training is written by the renowned dog training expert, Daniel Stevens. This isn’t just a collection of tips that people have compiled, it is a one-stop guide to dog training written by a professional dog trainer with years of real-life experience. In addition to the book, Daniel has put together a 30-minute video that provides simple, straight-forward tips to dealing with common dog behavior issues.

Things That I Really Liked
The section on dog whispering was really impressive. You’ve probably seen this technique made popular by Cesar Millan. It is unique because it is based on clear communication and mutual respect. Daniel seems to really know what he is talking about here. He doesn’t just skim the surface, but teaches you about using tone of voice and body language to your advantage and how to teach your dog to respect you as “head of the pack.”
I also liked how straight forward the guide was. Secrets to Dog Training isn’t a book of theories. It is a step-by-step guide that teaches you exactly how to deal with problems and teach your dog tricks.
Another really great benefit is that the team behind Secrets to Dog Training will give you an individualized consultation. If you need help with the specific problem, you can shoot off an e-mail to the team and they’re more than happy to help. I tested this out by asking them about how to keep my dog from digging up the back yard. Just under a day later, they e-mailed me back with several practical tips I could try out. Easy peasy!
How About a Freebie?
Daniel Stevens is so confident that he has written the best dog training book on the market that he is offering a free 6 day course just to prove he knows his stuff. This course goes over some basic issue such house training and a few other common dog issues. This little mini-course is a great way to test the waters and really see if this is the dog training guide for you.
On top of the free mini-course, Secrets to Dog Training comes with five bonus books.
- A Quick Guide to Dog Aggression
- All the House Training Methods & Tricks
- Dog Grooming Made Easy
- Tips on Security Training Your Dog
- Secrets to Becoming the Alpha Dog
(Update: Since my original review, they’re now including the Secrets to Dog Training audio book with your purchase)
The Final Verdict
Overall, I’m really impressed with this package. The material covers a very broad range of topics. All information is covered in a detailed, step-by-step process and is very effective (my little 6 month old puppy can already sit, shake hands and roll-over after just 2 and 1/2 weeks of working with her!).
There’s more to this book than just fixing a problem dog. It’s great for training of all types. It’s also a great source of information when it comes to dog ownership, vet visits and maintaining a great relationship with your dog. If you own a dog or are considering getting one, I’d highly recommend the Secrets to Dog Training.
